Graphics Mode

Enters graphics mode

Syntax

Graphics Mode screenWidth, screenHeight
Graphics Mode Hardware screenWidth, screenHeight

Description

This command causes TNT Basic to enter graphics mode allowing it to use sprites, canvases and perform drawing operations.

The default drawing canvas is opened with the specified dimensions and the screen is cleared with black.

The dimensions can be anything up to the maximum resolution of the monitor. The best monitor resolution for the dimensions passed is automatically selected. If there is no exact match then the next resolution up is selected and your drawing is clipped to your requested dimensions in a central region of the screen.

If hardware mode is used then TNT Basic takes advantage of the computers graphics card. This also allows additional effects (e.g. sprite rotation).

If the user has multiple monitors the best monitor for the resolution passed is selected.

    Common resolutions include:
    640x480
    800x600
    1024x768
